Besides playing high school concert band, Dan has played in numerous other school ensembles including jazz band, pep band, and various chamber ensembles. Outside of High School, Dan has played in and put together numerous other bands and ensembles. In his junior and senior years, he was a part of the Minnesota All State Jazz Ensemble and the Minnesota Youth Jazz Bands' top ensemble. He has also put together a funk band, "The New Testament", a jazz combo, "Play It Like You Mean It," as well as playing with the twin cities rock band, "Ruben". Dan also plays and sits in with community ensembles, including the "River City Jazz Orchestra" and the "St. Croix Jazz Orchestra".
